Facts, Emotions, Drama. And winning people over. #1

"Facts don't win people over. Emotions do. Win people over to your way of thinking by dramatizing your ideas".

This is from Dale Carnegie. It is proved by science, that human mind has limitations in reasoning. The famous book by Daniel Kahneman "Thinking fast and slow" shows that while humans are capable of logical reasoning (System 2) much of daily decision-making is governed by intuitive and often flawed way of thinking (System 1, as described in the book).

Think that most of the time, the fast and most of the times flawed reasoning system prevails.

System 1 operates automatically and is influenced by emotions, gut reactions, and vivid imagery. Facts and logic (System 2) require effort to process, while stories and dramatization trigger an immediate emotional response. Carnegie’s advice aligns with this because emotions drive decisions more than pure logic. System 1 is wired for narratives, metaphors, and visuals rather than abstract data. Dramatizing ideas (e.g., using powerful stories, vivid examples, or striking visuals) makes them more engaging and memorable. This is why advertisers, politicians, and great speakers use storytelling instead of dry statistics.
